Engine 7, the oldest operating fire station in the nation, is in risk of being closed. The City of Louisville has commissioned a study that indicates this station should be abandon in favor of a new station located somewhere west of this location. Many Louisville residents are fighting the proposed closing, and the future of the station remain undecided.

Located at 821 South 6th Street, the station is only a few blocks north of the Old Louisville and Limerick Historic Districts. If you are in the area, don't miss seeing this station while you can.

Additional information on this station and stories about its history will be posted as they become available.
