Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center Opens New Exhibit

“Prehistory And Archaeology of the Falls of the Ohio Region”

The Falls of the Ohio Archaeology Society gathered artifacts and information from
excavations in the region from the 1940’s to the present for this very special exhibit.
Some of the artifacts have never been shown to the public and it is quite unusual to
have so many local sites represented. These sites cover the period from 12,000 years
ago to the time of contact with Europeans. The exhibit will be on display in the
Interpretive Center at the Falls of the Ohio State Park through August 6th.

All programs and exhibits at the Interpretive Center are free with building admission.

For more information call (812) 280-9970.

Intermezzo!

Louisville's hottest new café and cabaret is now open on the lower level of Actor's Theatre. If there is another place like it in Louisville, we don't know about it. The atmosphere and the food are fabulous. This place is so new that we don't yet have a review, web site or photographs to show.

Dinner is served from 5-10 PM, Tuesday thru Sunday. If you are planning on dinner before a performance at Actors Theatre, reservations are a must!

The cabaret show begins about 10:30 on Friday and Saturday evening. Saturday evening’s performance was excellent. My only complaint was that the night was over before I wanted to go home! This place promises to be packed as soon as the word gets around. This should also be a hot place to finish up a First Friday Gallery Hop! (Just a word of caution. If you stay past 11, the Gallery Hop Trolley may not be running. Take that into consideration when you park.)

Reservations: 502.561.3344.

MARDI GRAS THEMED PARADE AND PARTIES
Imagine a year with no Kentucky Derby and no Derby Festival. If you¹re from New Orleans and Louisiana, that¹s like a year with no Mardi Gras. This event is designed as a way for all of Louisville to welcome our many new neighbors from Louisiana displaced here due to hurricanes Katrina and Wilma. It is estimated that there are about 200 families who will remain with us in the year to come. Those we have contact with have indicated that a year without Mardi Gras events marks yet another loss for them. We want to help them to celebrate ³Louisville style² and give them a sense of normalcy and renewed spirit. All of Louisville and surrounding areas are welcome and encouraged to attend. This will be a free public event.

The event will occur in conjunction with the already scheduled FAT Friday the monthly Frankfort Avenue Trolley (FAT) ‘hop’, on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2006.

The PARADE will include:
--Pedestrians in costume on the sidewalks - throwing beads and doubloons
--Street Musicians
--‘Floats’ - decorated vehicles that will travel WITH regular traffic (no street closings)
PARTIES:
--will occur in businesses along Frankfort Avenue
as well as other businesses associated with FAT Friday,
--Highlight parties will occur at Cafe Lou Lou, Gumbo A Go Go
