HISTORIC
LOUISVILLE Recently the Historic Old Louisville Chamber of Commerce packaged and hosted several large family reunions, large meetings and small conventions, including a convention for 90 members of a statewide association. Attendees stayed in area bed and breakfasts; the keynote address and opening banquet were at an area restaurant, Leander's on Oak; and all general sessions and breakout meetings were held at the historic Conrad Caldwell House. In addition to networking, socializing and regular business sessions of the association, attendees were treated to tours of some of the State's most beautiful Victorian mansions, walking tours, and bus tours of haunted mansions. This convention was most unusual and pleasant because the accommodations were bed and breakfasts in one of the nations largest historic districts instead of meeting and sleeping in the typical large commercial hotel in a downtown setting. The convention was a huge success from all points of view. Some of the attendee comments were: " Best convention I've attended in 14 years." "I loved staying in the B&B's. I never realized there were so many and so close together in this beautiful neighborhood" "The food was great and you can't beat the hospitality and the accommodations. Thanks for making this year's convention such a success!" "Great meeting - Great time! I hope we can do this again." Planning a small convention, meeting or large gathering?
